At around 9:35 p.m., the girl and a lady in her twenties were involved in an incident after attempting to cross East Charleston Boulevard near South Lamb Boulevard without using a crosswalk.
According to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Mark Lourenco, the consequences of this ill-fated decision were devastating. The RTC bus struck both the young girl and the woman, inflicting severe injuries upon them.
Regrettably, the 9-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene, marking a heart-wrenching loss for her family and the entire community.
