A 51-year-old man from Bullhead City, Arizona, died after entering the Colorado River on Thursday evening. Authorities responded around 5:30 p.m. to the riverbank near Moser Avenue and Sixth Street, directly across from casinos in Laughlin, Nevada. The victim, identified as Thomas Michael McCluney, was floating with a companion when he submerged. According to law enforcement, the incident appears to have been accidental, and he was not wearing a life jacket at the time .
Bullhead City police initiated lifesaving measures immediately upon recovering McCluney from the water. He was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators found no signs of foul play, and officials have not observed any suspicious circumstances .
Bullhead City is located approximately 100 miles south of Las Vegas. The authorities continue to investigate the incident and emphasize the importance of water safety, especially regarding the use of personal flotation devices.
