LAS VEGAS – In a fortunate turn of events, an American Airlines flight successfully landed at Harry Reid International Airport after encountering a bird strike incident minutes before its arrival. According to authorities, the flight crew promptly radioed in an alert regarding the bird strike to one of the aircraft’s engines.
Spokesman Joe Rajchel confirmed that the bird strike affected the airplane’s right engine as it approached the airport. In response to the alert, American Airlines flight 2845, carrying 189 passengers, declared an emergency, ensuring that emergency vehicles were on standby to respond if necessary.
Emergency vehicles were dispatched to the landing area as a precautionary measure. However, the aircraft skillfully touched down at approximately 1:10 p.m. with no reported injuries or engine complications.
“We are relieved to share that the flight landed safely,” stated Rajchel. “To the best of our knowledge, the aircraft is currently taxiing under its own power.”
The quick and decisive actions taken by the flight crew, combined with the efficient response from airport authorities, contributed to the safe outcome of the incident. This incident serves as a testament to the professionalism and preparedness demonstrated by airline personnel and emergency response teams.
