A student at Cimarron Memorial High School was taken into custody Friday morning after a firearm was found on campus, according to school officials.
In a letter to families, Principal Colin McNaught explained that administrators contacted police after receiving a report of a possible weapon at the school. The campus was placed on lockdown while officers conducted a search, during which a firearm was recovered and a student was arrested.
School officials confirmed there were no threats made to students or staff, and the situation was resolved without incident. Because the individual involved is a juvenile, further details were not released. Parents with questions have been encouraged to reach out to the school’s main office.
