Clark County Transfers Remains After Funeral Home’s License Revocation

Nearly 150 bodies formerly held at McDermott’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Las Vegas have been identified and transferred to Davis Funeral Home, the Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed.

Of the recovered remains, 146 are now under the care of Davis Funeral Home. The coroner’s office praised Davis for handling the situation “with care, compassion, and urgency,” while also asking for public patience given the complexity and emotional weight of the task.

A recent report raised concerns about McDermott’s operations, citing troubling delays—one body reportedly remained at the facility for 252 days, and a baby’s for 54 days. Neighbors had noted an unpleasant odor emanating from the funeral home for months. Attempts to obtain explanations from the funeral home’s owner, Christopher Grant, were unsuccessful.

The Nevada State Board of Funeral & Cemetery Services revoked the funeral home’s license earlier this month following multiple complaints and inspections that noted poor storage conditions and delays in processing remains.
