LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – On Monday, Death Valley National Park will give free admission to the park, joining other National Park Service (NPS) locations around the nation.
The fee-free day is being held in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., according to a news release. Day.
The first of five free days in 2023, MLK Day, which is on Monday, January 16, according to the park, will be free. April 22 (the start of National Park Week), August 4 (the anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act), September 23 (National Public Lands Day), and November 11 are the remaining free access days (in honor of Veterans Day).
The announcement states that the classification of “fee-free” solely relates to admission costs and has no bearing on camping prices.
Death Valley warns that the months of August and September saw significant flash floods in the area. Most of the park’s southern and central roadways are now open once more. The North Highway and a few backcountry routes, according to authorities, are still closed until repairs are complete.
According to the press release, the majority of the park’s campsites and all of its accommodations are open.
