Emergency Rescue After Crushing Injury in Boring Company Tunnel

A worker employed by The Boring Company suffered a serious “crushing injury” while working in a tunnel near the Las Vegas Strip late Wednesday night, prompting emergency response by the Clark County Fire Department.  The incident occurred around 10:12 p.m. in the 3900 block of Paradise Road, just north of Flamingo Road.

Fire officials reported that the worker was deep inside the tunnel when the injury happened. Rescue crews entered the entry point of the tunnel and used a stokes basket—a reinforced stretcher designed for difficult terrain or confined-space rescue—to bring the worker out. Because of the tunnel’s depth and configuration, a crane on-site was used to lift the stretcher to the surface.  Once on the surface, the injured person was transferred to Sunrise Hospital and was reported stable as of Thursday morning.

Operations at the tunnel site have been temporarily suspended pending an investigation into the cause of the accident. Community safety and workplace protocol are expected to be under review as authorities gather more details.
