FBI Uncovers Decades-Long Fraud: Fake Doctor Accused of Scamming Patients Across Multiple States

Mary Blakley

In a stunning case of deception and greed, the FBI is calling on potential victims to come forward in its investigation of a 75-year-old woman accused of posing as a doctor for decades. Mary Blakley allegedly ran fraudulent “body scan” clinics across the United States, preying on unsuspecting patients with false claims of medical expertise.

According to the FBI, Blakley and her husband, Floyd “Fred” Blakley, operated these clinics under numerous business names, including Sonic Waves Research, Living Well Ministry, and London Bridge Wellness Center. From 2011 to as recently as December 2024, the couple allegedly claimed to diagnose, treat, and even cure illnesses like cancer using ultrasound machines. Authorities say the scheme spanned multiple states, including Nevada, Arizona, California, Colorado, and Utah.

Blakley reportedly used a litany of aliases, such as Marye Yvonnea, Rosemary, and Rose Mary, as well as multiple last names, to evade detection. The fraudulent clinics pushed unproven treatments and sold products to unsuspecting victims under the guise of professional medical care.

The FBI emphasizes that an indictment is not a conviction, and Mary Blakley remains innocent until proven guilty in court. However, the depth and breadth of the accusations paint a chilling picture of deceit targeting vulnerable individuals. Victims who believed they were receiving life-saving care were allegedly misled by a scheme driven by profit, not professionalism.

This case underscores the critical importance of verifying medical credentials and remaining vigilant against those who exploit trust for financial gain. The FBI urges anyone who believes they or their loved ones may have been a victim of this scheme to come forward by completing a provided form. Victims may also be entitled to services and rights under federal law.

As the investigation continues, this case serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by fraudsters who undermine public trust. How many lives were potentially affected, and how can we better protect individuals from such schemes in the future?
