Las Vegas, NV – A former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sergeant, Sean Lucero, has agreed to plead guilty to charges of attempted theft and oppression under color of office. Lucero, who retired from the department in August, was accused of stealing cash from massage parlors during investigations into prostitution and sex trafficking.
Metro police initiated an investigation into Lucero in March 2023 after receiving allegations of theft from massage parlor employees. The investigation revealed that Lucero allegedly stole money from at least 10-12 massage parlors during authorized searches.
In one instance, a spa employee claimed that their wallet was missing after police had secured the premises before obtaining a search warrant. Similarly, another employee reported the disappearance of a stack of money. Both incidents occurred during police investigations.
When confronted by detectives, Lucero initially denied any wrongdoing. However, he later admitted to stealing money from multiple massage parlors.
Lucero’s plea agreement indicates that he could face jail time, but it is more likely that he will receive probation. His formal plea is scheduled for Thursday.
