Free Admission to National Parks in Honor of Veterans on November 11
LAS VEGAS – This Friday, November 11, all National Parks will be free of charge in honor of Veterans Day.
Nearby national parks include Grand Canyon National Park, Mojave National Preserve, Great Basin National Park, Mojave Desert National Preserve, Great Basin National Park, Zion National Park, and Death Valley National Park.
Those who have served our country are now entitled to a free lifetime permit to federal areas, according to a press statement from Death Valley National Park.
“On Nov. 8, the Biden-Harris Administration announced that veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and Gold Star Families can obtain a free lifetime pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites spread out across more than 400 million acres of public lands, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests,” according to the news release.
“The new lifetime pass for veterans and Gold Star Families is in addition to the free annual Military Pass that has been available since 2012,” the news release states.
If you are a veteran and you are planning on visiting a federal recreation area that typically requires an entrance fee, you can get in for free if you present one of the four forms of acceptable ID (Department of Defense ID Card, Veteran Health ID (VHIC), Veteran ID Card, or veteran’s designation on a state-issued US driver’s license or ID card) that are accepted. Qualified Gold Star Families can receive free admission to national parks by printing and presenting a voucher available at NPS.gov.
