Elaine Wynn, the visionary co-founder of Mirage Resorts and Wynn Resorts, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Her foundation announced that she died peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brief illness .
Born Elaine Pascal in New York City in 1942, she graduated from George Washington University in 1964 with a degree in political science. After marrying Steve Wynn in 1963, the couple moved to Las Vegas, where they transformed the city’s skyline with iconic resorts like The Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio, Wynn, and Encore .
Beyond her business acumen, Wynn was a dedicated philanthropist. She championed education, serving on Nevada’s State Board of Education and leading initiatives to improve public schools. Her passion for the arts culminated in plans for the Las Vegas Museum of Art, a $200 million project in partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, set to break ground in 2026 .
Elaine Wynn’s legacy is etched into the fabric of Las Vegas—not just in its luxurious resorts but in its cultural and educational institutions. She is survived by her daughters, Kevyn and Gillian, and seven grandchildren.
