A competency hearing has been scheduled for the man accused of setting fire to a house last week and pointing a firearm at Henderson police officers, causing them to shoot fire.
Mark Ellsworth, 19, appeared in Henderson Justice Court on Tuesday for an arraignment hearing.
During the hearing, Judge Sam Bateman signed an order transferring Ellsworth to Clark County District Court for a competence exam.
On November 18, he is set to appear in District Court for a hearing.
Ellsworth was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and is now facing three counts of assault on a protected person and one act of arson.
“Mark then exited the rear of the residence with a long rifle in his hands and pointed the firearm in the direction of” the four officers, an arrest report states. A sergeant fired two shots from his rifle and an officer fired one round from his handgun, both toward Ellsworth.
Ellsworth returned to the home and later returned outdoors, this time without a gun, and he was arrested without incident. According to authorities, no injuries were recorded during the event.
