The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the man found dead after a multi-day standoff in Henderson as 31-year-old Trevor Cooper.
Cooper was discovered deceased early Sunday morning inside a townhome located at 295 Callen Falls Ave. The standoff with police had begun two days prior, on Friday morning.
While the coroner’s office hasn’t yet released the cause and manner of Cooper’s death, details surrounding the event have been provided by Henderson Police.
According to a Monday press release, Cooper was linked to a violent felony case. He reportedly barricaded himself inside the residence for nearly 48 hours, “armed and making suicidal statements, refusing to surrender.”
The standoff escalated on Saturday morning when SWAT officers entered the home around 8:45 AM. Police reported gunfire exchanged between Cooper and Officer Taylor Young, though no injuries were sustained by either party. Officer Young has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol in such situations.
Negotiations continued with Cooper throughout the day, but ultimately he was found dead shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
