LAS VEGAS, Nev. (NV, Globe) – A judge reduced bail for a juvenile accused of sexually harassing and attempting to murder a high school teacher in Las Vegas.
During an appearance in Clark County District Court on Monday, The bail of Jonathan Martinez Garcia was adjusted to $100,000 with high-level electronic monitoring. Previously, bail was set at $500,000.
His release terms would include no contact with the victim nor Eldorado High School.
Martinez Garcia, 16, was not on the list of detainees at the Clark County Detention Center as of Tuesday morning.
After reportedly assaulting his teacher in a classroom in Eldorado Highschool on April, he is charged with ten charges, including attempted murder, sexual assault, and robbery.
He has entered a not guilty plea on all counts.
According to an arrest complaint, the woman informed authorities she was discussing grades with Martinez Garcia when he began to strangle her from behind with a rope or thread.
Martinez Garcia told authorities he passed out and could not remember hitting the instructor, but he subsequently claimed he choked her with a computer charging wire.
The next meeting in his case is set for October 24.
