LAS VEGAS – A man lost his life on Wednesday night after he was shot by a homeowner when he kicked in the door of a western valley residence.
The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. when a woman called the Metropolitan Police Department to report that her boyfriend had shot another man in her home on Bloomingfield Lane, located near South Buffalo Drive and Alta Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the woman outside the residence and took her boyfriend into custody.
The suspect confessed to the shooting and informed the officers that the victim was in the backyard. The police located the deceased, a man in his 40s, in the backyard.
According to Lt. Jason Johansson of the Metropolitan Police Department, the man and the woman were engaged in a fight outside the house, and the man then proceeded to get a bat from a vehicle and damaged several cars parked in the driveway. He then broke into the home by kicking in the front door.
The relationship between the deceased and the woman remains unclear, as the investigation is still ongoing. Johansson stated that it is too early to decide whether the homeowner will face charges. He did mention that there seems to be a justified aspect to the shooting, but the investigation will confirm this.
