Las Vegas, Nevada – The Clark County Coroner has released the identities of two of the three victims killed in Wednesday’s shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
The victims:
- Dr. Patricia Navarro-Vélez, 39, an assistant professor of accounting
- Dr. Cha Jan “Jerry” Chang, 64, a professor of management information systems
Both victims were faculty members in the UNLV Lee Business School.
UNLV President Keith Whitfield:
- Described the shooting as “the most difficult day in the history of our university.”
- Offered condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
- Confirmed that a fourth victim remains in critical condition.
Additional details:
- A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support Dr. Navarro-Vélez’s family.
- The identity of the third victim will be released once next of kin are notified.

“Words are still hard to come by as we’re only beginning to process the grief, loss, anger, and fear associated with Wednesday’s tragic campus shooting that took the lives of three of our cherished faculty members.”
