LAS VEGAS – Innovations International Charter School, located in the Las Vegas valley, has made the decision to cancel school on Friday due to safety concerns. This action comes after a former Hamas leader designated Friday, Oct. 13, as a global “Day of Jihad.”
In a letter addressed to parents, Dr. Connie Malin, the chief educational officer of Innovations International Charter School, expressed concerns about the Oakey Campus being situated in a former Jewish Temple. The letter mentioned that temples and businesses associated with the Jewish community could potentially become targets, although no specific threats were mentioned.
The decision to cancel classes reflects the rising global tensions and the need for heightened security measures within Jewish temples. The designation of Friday, Oct. 13, as the “Day of Jihad” by former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal has added to the concerns. Meshaal called upon Muslims to take to the streets and express their anger in support of Palestinians.
Classes at Innovations International Charter School will resume on Monday, Oct. 16, ensuring that students can safely continue their education in a secure environment. The school remains committed to the well-being of its community and will continue to take necessary precautions to maintain a safe learning environment.
