LAS VEGAS – A shooting near central Las Vegas on Wednesday resulted in at least one injury, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police Department officers were investigating gunfire near North Eastern Avenue and Poppy Lane, which occurred just before 3 p.m., according to a statement from Metro.
Police said that one person was taken to University Medical Center and local schools were placed on lockdown.
The Robert Lunt and Arturo Cambeiro Elementary schools, located roughly three blocks from the shooting, were affected.
At the scene, a Regional Transportation Commission bus was flanked by two Metro cruisers behind police tape.
The shooter was not immediately detained, police said.
