Las Vegas Police Officer Suspended Following Arrest by State Authorities

A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officer was arrested on July 16, 2025, by Nevada State Police and is now facing multiple charges. Officer Zachary Louis, who has served with LVMPD since 2020, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center following an incident that led to a series of traffic-related allegations.

According to the LVMPD Office of Public Information, Louis is charged with several offenses, including disobeying a peace officer, driving at speeds over 41 MPH above the limit, reckless driving, and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Additional charges include improper lane change, driving under the influence (first offense), failure to provide proof of insurance, and operating an unregistered vehicle.

Louis is currently assigned to the Community Safety Division under the Northwest Area Command. The department confirmed that he will be placed on suspension with pay while an internal investigation is conducted.

The LVMPD emphasized that full cooperation with the ongoing investigation will be maintained.
