A Las Vegas Valley resident, Elizabeth Browner, has filed a lawsuit against Green Valley Ranch casino-resort, alleging negligence after an automated parking gate arm struck her in the face and caused severe injuries. The complaint, filed in the Eighth Judicial District Court of Nevada, accuses the property, operated by Station Casinos—a subsidiary of Red Rock Resorts—of failing to provide a safe walkway for pedestrians.
The incident occurred on January 12, 2023, when Browner visited the Henderson property to play bingo. Upon returning to her vehicle in the VIP parking area, Browner claims she was forced to navigate an area without clearly marked pedestrian paths. As she neared one of the automated security gates, the gate arm unexpectedly swung down, striking her left eye and knocking her to the ground.
Browner alleges she sustained multiple injuries, including an open laceration on her nose, a corneal abrasion, a head injury, and blurred vision. According to the complaint, the injuries required extensive medical care, including follow-up visits, pain management, and physical therapy. She says the incident confined her to her home for two weeks, during which she experienced significant pain and difficulty sleeping.
The lawsuit also alleges the gate arm had a history of malfunctions before and after Browner’s injury. It claims that Green Valley Ranch created a hazardous condition by failing to provide a designated pedestrian walkway in its parking garage, exposing guests to unnecessary risks.
A spokesperson for Red Rock Resorts, citing company policy, declined to comment on pending litigation but reiterated the property’s commitment to safety: “The safety of our team members and guests at Green Valley Ranch is the highest priority. Green Valley Ranch takes great pride in its safety record.”
Browner is seeking financial compensation for her injuries and associated damages. The case highlights potential liability concerns in public spaces and raises questions about the measures businesses take to ensure customer safety.
