LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – A 27-year-old man has been detained in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed one person in the east Las Vegas Valley.
Police named Usbaldo Zarate as a suspect in the Nov. 26 shooting in the 4800 block of Ballantine Drive, between Stewart Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard.
According to authorities, the victim was inside his car with two other persons at the time of the incident.
That’s when an unidentifiable car with many occupants inside “approached and discharged numerous bullets” at the victim, striking him.
The defendants are suspected of driving away from the site of the incident before cops arrived.
At the scene, the person was pronounced dead.
Zarate was already being detained at the Clark County Detention Center for a prior shooting in North Las Vegas at the time of his arrest.
He is now facing a number of accusations, including firing a firearm within a structure/vehicle in a forbidden place, assault, open murder, and attempted murder.
Zarate’s court case is set for Wednesday, December 7, at 8 a.m.
