LAS VEGAS – Metro police shot and killed an armed man allegedly involved in a neighborhood altercation in Summerlin on Friday night.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Capt. Carlos Hank said police responded to the 10500 block of Angel Dreams Avenue, near Anasazi and Banbury Cross drives, around 7:45 p.m., after dispatch got reports of a neighborhood argument and a guy with a pistol.
Hank stated that the man was at home when authorities “called into the suspect, asking him to come out quietly.”
The suspect emerged from the house armed and approached the officers but violated their “verbal directions,” according to Hank.
“At this point, an officer discharged his handgun, striking the suspect,” Hank explained.
Hank stated that the man was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.
According to the agency, this is the second Friday shooting involving a Metro cop, and it is the 14th police-involved shooting this year.
