LAS VEGAS – On Thursday, a North Las Vegas court ordered a former movie star to remain in detention without bail after he was arrested and accused of running a cult and trafficking women and girls.
Nathan Chasing Horse, 46, is charged with two charges of adult sex trafficking and one count each of sex assault on a child, sex assault, and child abuse.
He was ordered by Justice of the Peace Belinda Harris to remain in the Clark County Detention Center without bail, although his counsel will have the opportunity to argue for his release at a future court hearing.
Chasing Horse, who played Smiles a Lot in Kevin Costner’s “Dances With Wolves,” was charged by several women and girls with running a cult called The Circle and abusing his “spiritual influence,” according to a Metropolitan Police Department arrest report released Wednesday.
After a three-month investigation, he was detained on Tuesday by Metro’s big violators unit. Chasing Horse is accused of raping, grooming, and trafficking six of his wives as young as nine years old.
