LAS VEGAS – The Nevada Gaming Control Board has issued a warning to casinos in the state about a scam targeting casino cages. The scammers pose as casino executives, contacting cage workers through phone calls and text messages, and attempting to have them hand over large amounts of money off-site. The gaming control board has noted that this scam continues to evolve, with a shift in tactics to target gaming pits and other areas of the casino.

Last month, a prominent downtown casino fell victim to a similar scam, with the suspect accused of stealing over a million dollars from the casino’s cage. The police report connected to this scam also revealed another incident at a property in Clark County. Similar scams are also occurring in other states.

The gaming control board urges all casino operators to review their security protocols to ensure that their workers are aware of this evolving scam.
