In a new twist on state pride, Nevada has emerged as the most TikTok-obsessed state in the nation, according to a study conducted by Socially Powerful, an influencer marketing agency. Using Google Keyword Planner to analyze TikTok-related searches over the past year, the study revealed that Nevada residents are far more fixated on the app than their counterparts in other states.
With 3,902 TikTok-related searches per 100,000 residents, Nevada claims the top spot, edging out New York, Virginia, and New Jersey. While states like California and Florida had more overall searches due to their larger populations, Nevadans outpaced everyone in searches per capita. Across the Silver State, there were 121,140 TikTok-related searches over 12 months.
The runner-up, New York, saw 3,847 searches per 100,000 people, followed by Virginia at 3,754 and New Jersey at 3,576. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Montana had the least interest in TikTok, with just 1,495 searches per 100,000 people. Could the wide-open spaces of Big Sky Country be enough to keep residents offline?
TikTok: More Than Just a Trend?
This study sheds light on the cultural grip TikTok has, especially in Nevada, where the glitz and glam of Las Vegas may amplify the app’s appeal. But not all news surrounding TikTok has been rosy. Earlier in January, the app went offline in the United States for 14 hours—a glitch that left many users scrambling. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, on his first day back in the White House for his second term, signed an executive order delaying a planned TikTok ban for 75 days.
The President’s decision aims to balance national security concerns with the app’s massive popularity among millions of Americans. Trump’s administration is now exploring “an orderly way that protects national security while avoiding an abrupt shutdown of a communications platform.”

It’s no surprise that California, with its massive population, led in total searches (1.37 million), but the per capita interest simply didn’t measure up.
Is Nevada’s Obsession a Reflection of National Trends?
While TikTok continues to captivate users across the country, it also raises questions about its role in shaping cultural and economic dynamics. Is this Nevada’s way of staying connected to a rapidly evolving digital age, or is it a sign of misplaced priorities? Either way, TikTok’s influence is undeniable.
For Nevadans, TikTok isn’t just an app—it’s a way of life. Whether the app’s fate hangs in the balance or continues to dominate social media, one thing’s for certain: Nevada isn’t logging off anytime soon.
