LAS VEGAS – North Las Vegas Police shot and killed a driver in the early hours of Friday morning after he reached for a pistol during a traffic check.
According to preliminary reports, NLVPD officers performed the traffic stop between West La Madres Way and Allen Lane around 1 a.m.
According to police, the suspect reached for a pistol while one of the officers questioned the driver, prompting the two cops to react and discharge their firearms, resulting in the driver’s death.
The Clark County Coroner’s Officer will reveal the deceased’s identity, as well as the reason and manner of death, after notifying the next of kin.
This inquiry is still in its early stages, and further details will be disclosed as they become available.
NLVPD’s first officer-involved shooting of 2023. The identities of the officers involved will be published after 72 hours, according to department procedure.
