LAS VEGAS – The North Las Vegas Police Department is on the lookout for a driver who fled the scene after a fatal hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning. According to police reports, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a man in his 50s or 60s was discovered lying in the road near the 2900 block of North Las Vegas Boulevard, close to North Pecos Road. The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The department’s major collision investigation unit revealed that preliminary findings suggest that the man was outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene. The driver failed to contact the police, according to the investigation.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim, pending family notification.
