A horrific shooting unfolded Monday night at a North Las Vegas apartment complex, claiming the lives of five people and leaving a teenager critically injured.
North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:00 pm on the 300 block of Casa Norte Dr. Upon arrival, officers discovered two women – one in her early 40s and another in her late 50s – with gunshot wounds. Tragically, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
A devastating search revealed several additional victims within the apartment. Two women in their mid-20s and a man in his early 20s were all located and pronounced deceased.
A 13-year-old girl was also found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics rushed her to UMC Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The identified suspect, 57-year-old Eric Adams, initially fled the apartment complex after the shooting. NLVPD officers located him at a nearby business on the 1600 block of Dwayne Stedman Avenue, armed with a firearm.
Following a brief manhunt, Adams fled into the backyard of a residence. Despite commands from officers to surrender the weapon, Adams tragically turned the gun on himself and died by suicide at the scene.
The North Las Vegas Police Department is actively investigating the motive behind this senseless tragedy. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact the NLVPD at 702-633-9111.
