LAS VEGAS – A 19-year-old woman was taken into custody early Saturday morning in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash.
The crash happened at 4:25 a.m. on January 21 near E. Lake Mead Boulevard east of the intersection with Mt. Hood Street, according to the LVMPD.
The police say that a silver sedan was going east on Lake Mead when a woman tried to cross the street on foot. Police say that the sedan hit the woman on foot, who was 24 years old, and then kept going east on Lake Mead without stopping.
At the scene, the pedestrian was said to be dead. Once the woman’s family has been told, the Clark County Coroner’s Office will be able to tell who she was.
LVMPD said that 19-year-old North Las Vegas resident Joanna Meza was arrested in connection with the accident. Police had been looking for the car that was in the accident.
The crash is the 7th traffic-related death in the area covered by the LVMPD in 2023.
