Southwest Airlines Flight Lands Safely with Help from Credentialed Pilot Onboard

LAS VEGAS – According to CBS News, a pilot who happened to be a passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Columbus, Ohio had to assist with the landing after one of the original pilots fell ill on Wednesday morning. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the flight, numbered 6013 and bound for John Glenn Columbus International Airport, landed at Harry Reid International Airport at around 8:00 a.m. that day.

In a statement to CBS News, Southwest Airlines officials expressed their gratitude to the credentialed pilot from another airline who helped with radio communication while their own pilot operated the aircraft. The airline also confirmed that after landing in Las Vegas, an alternate flight crew flew to Columbus. No information was provided regarding the ill pilot’s condition or medical issue.

Southwest Airlines commended the crew for their professionalism and thanked their customers for their patience and understanding during the situation.
