A student was arrested on Tuesday after a gun was discovered at Canarelli Middle School in southwest Las Vegas, according to a statement from Principal Jaclyn Ayala.
In an email to parents and guardians, Principal Ayala explained that school staff confiscated a firearm from a student. The incident was immediately reported to the Clark County School District Police for investigation.
“As a result of the investigation, a juvenile was arrested,” Principal Ayala wrote. Due to privacy laws, she added, the school cannot discuss individual student matters.
The incident serves as a reminder, Principal Ayala emphasized, that weapons of any kind are prohibited on campus. She continued that the school district would pursue “any and all legal actions” against students who violate the CCSD Student Code of Conduct by engaging in violence.
