LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas police have arrested Janelle Hammell, 23, in connection with a deadly stabbing that occurred on Wednesday. According to booking records, Hammell is being held on suspicion of open murder with a deadly weapon.
The incident was reported just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday when officers responded to a call about an unresponsive man near the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Katie Avenue. Upon arrival, they found that the man had been stabbed and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A possible suspect was detained in the area of Flamingo and Maryland Parkway, according to LVMPD Lt. Jason Johansson. However, investigators have yet to determine what led to the stabbing.
Hammell is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Thursday morning.
