Las Vegas, NV – A woman has tragically lost her life and another woman has been left seriously injured after a fiery overnight crash on Boulder Highway, according to police reports. The incident occurred at the intersection with Indios Avenue at around 1:47 a.m. on Sunday, prompting officers to respond to the scene of the injury crash.
Reports from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police reveal that a 2020 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway at an excessive speed when it collided with the rear of a U-Haul moving truck, which had stopped at a red light. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to catch fire, adding to the severity of the incident.
Emergency medical personnel rushed to the scene to assist, but sadly, the driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is yet to be released. The U-Haul driver, 33-year-old Angela Smith from Las Vegas, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
The LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section has taken over the case and is continuing their investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the crash. The death of the Toyota driver marks the 31st traffic-related fatality under the LVMPD’s watchful eye this year.
As investigations continue, police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact the authorities immediately.
