Two Toddlers Killed and Two Injured in North Las Vegas Car Crash

LAS VEGAS – Two babies were killed and two adults were injured after their car collided with a tree in North Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Police believe the crash was caused by speed and impairment.

According to North Las Vegas police Officer Alex Cuevas, the single-vehicle crash occurred at 9:16 p.m. near the 5000 block of North Scott Robinson Drive, near West Lone Mountain Road and Clayton Street, after a silver Honda van sideswiped trees, a light pole, a wall, and then struck a large palm tree head on.

Cuevas stated that the two girls in the car were not restrained and were wearing adult seatbelts. One toddler was decapitated and died at the spot, while another was transported to the hospital and died.

Cuevas said at a news conference that a lady in her 20s operating the vehicle and another woman in the passenger seat were both hospitalized and were in critical condition Monday afternoon.

“The NLVPD encourages parents, caregivers, and anyone traveling with children to protect them by ensuring each child is secure in the appropriate car seat for their age, height, and weight,” Cuevas noted in a message. “We also want to inform the public about the dangers of driving while intoxicated.”

Following notification of the girls’ families, the Clark County coroner’s office is anticipated to announce their names.
