The Southern Nevada Health District is preparing to offer the updated COVID‑19 vaccine following new federal guidance that designates it as preferred over the older formulation. The previous version of the vaccine is no longer being offered . The district’s immunization clinics will continue to provide COVID‑19 vaccinations to eligible residents—specifically adults 65 and older or individuals with underlying health conditions that increase risk of severe illness.
Officials note that insurance coverage may shift once the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) issues its final recommendations. Meanwhile, the Health District encourages residents to also receive a seasonal flu vaccine, practice good hygiene like hand‑washing and cough etiquette, and stay home when ill to help reduce the overall spread of disease.
