In a commendable display of community engagement, the Vegas Golden Knights have teamed up with Southwest Gas to address a pressing need in the Las Vegas Valley: providing beds for children without them. On Saturday, over 120 volunteers from both organizations gathered to construct 60 beds, which will be distributed to local families through the non-profit Sleep in Heavenly Peace. This initiative is particularly timely, as more than 5,000 children are currently on the organization’s waiting list.
Justin Brown, President of Southwest Gas, emphasized the importance of this effort, stating, “A bed is a fundamental necessity – our collective efforts will help ensure more children in our community have a comfortable place to sleep each night.” Nick Trujillo, the Golden Knights’ Director of Global Partnerships, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the team’s commitment to giving back to the community that supports them so passionately.
This event is part of Southwest Gas’ BLUE – Building Lives Up Everywhere employee volunteer program, reflecting a broader commitment to community service and support. The collaboration between a major sports franchise and a local energy company serves as a powerful example of how organizations can unite to make a tangible difference in their communities.
