LAS VEGAS – Mieleena Harris-Brower, 27, faces first-degree kidnapping, attempted murder with a dangerous weapon, battery with a deadly weapon resulting in serious bodily damage, and second-degree kidnapping charges. If convicted, she faces life in jail without the chance of parole.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s findings, the following sequence of events occurred:
Officers responded to a Burger King on West Tropicana Avenue around 5:05 p.m. on December 2 and spoke with the manager there. A woman later identified as Harris-Brower entered the restaurant, asked an employee for a towel, and then entered the washroom.
A huge group of ladies had been spotted arguing in the parking lot an hour previously. According to the police report, Harris-Brower moved in front of the door, blocking the exit to the bathroom, and refused to let the two claimed victims inside leave.
Harris-Brower pulled out a box cutter and slashed one of the victims in the face, breast, and arm, as well as the second victim on the finger. A Burger King employee knocked on the bathroom door and told Harris-Brower to come out; she later left the area.
One of the suspected victims, whose identity is not specified in the arrest record, was taken to the University Medical Center and refused to talk with authorities about the incident.
Police eventually interviewed one of the victims, who said that Harris-Brower was previously known as a “wifey” – prostitution slang – but that relationship ended owing to suspicions that the suspect had contacted law police on the victim.
A examination of Harris-phone Bower’s records revealed that she had previously called police and had an active bench warrant for prostitution at the time.
Officers apprehended Harris-Bower at a local Wal-Mart on Sunday and took her into prison. In an interview with police, she indicated that she had previously known the accused victim and considered them a friend.
“Mieleena indicated that she is a working prostitute and that she would go on ‘dates’ with [redacted] but did not consider [them] a ‘wife’ because she could not be trusted,” according to the report.
According to Harris-Bower, the victim started the fight outside the Burger King by slapping her and brandishing a knife after tossing garments at her. Harris-Bower claimed she went inside the restaurant to obtain help before the victim tasered her.
Harris-Bower stated police she used her box cutter in self-defense and had no intention of injuring the second alleged victim, who was cut on the finger.
She was arrested on December 11 and is being held without bond at the Clark County Detention Center.
