RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – A 19-year-old man was detained in South Reno early on Sunday morning for hit and run and reckless driving.
At around 12:05 a.m. On October 2, the Reno Police Department (RPD) went to the vicinity of South McCarran Blvd. and Lakeside Drive in response to reports of multiple irresponsible drivers. The automobiles had already scattered before authorities arrived, according to RPD.
Officers rushed to a local hospital about an hour later at 1:10 a.m. on a complaint of a teenage girl who had been hit by one of the reckless drivers near South McCarran Blvd. and Lakeside Drive.
Further inquiry led to the discovery of the vehicle and the identification of the driver as 19-year-old Daniel Leyva.
Leyva was later detained, and the vehicle was seized.
“The Reno Police Department would like to remind the public that we have a zero tolerance on illegal street racers and sideshows. Activities associated with sideshows and street racing are extremely dangerous.”
