NEVADA – If you’re flying into Reno-Tahoe International Airport, take note. Approximately 5,000 flights have been canceled or delayed today.
Winter storm Elliot’s wind and snow have disrupted operations at airports around the country, including Reno.
According to the National Weather Service Reno (NWS Reno), numerous aircraft are expected to be delayed early Tuesday morning due to heavy winds. Stacey Sunday, Director of Communications at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, stated,
We are experiencing severe weather around the country, which may impact flights here in Reno.
Some travelers were agitated because they had been attempting to get home for several days. A tourist attempting to reach Oklahoma said his flight was canceled numerous times within hours of booking.
While the planes were grounded, Paws for Passengers therapy dogs were making their way around the terminal to help stressed individuals about getting home.
Allow extra time for returns and parking if you are returning a car.
Remember to pack extra patience this time because the airport is also under construction, so expect traffic and delays.
