60-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for More Than 40 Years of Criminal Behavior

RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe)- The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday that a Reno man would face life in prison after being designated a Habitual Offender for nearly 40 years of illegal activity.

Everett Wayne Kendell, 60, was sentenced to life in prison with the chance of release after serving at least ten years because of his previous history, which included 12 felony convictions.

In February, the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program (ROP) initiated an investigation into Kendell in connection with various felony charges.

Reno police officers attempted to pull Kendell over in the Wells and Sutro neighborhood in April, but Kendell rushed away and dangerously drove through residential areas to elude them.

Kendell was subsequently apprehended by ROP officers and pled guilty to one count of Felony Eluding in September.

ROP is made up of detectives from Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County who undertake investigations on people whose criminal histories fit the requirements for being classified as a Habitual Criminal.
