A 79-Year-old Man Died Last Week After Being Hit by a Vehicle While Standing by His Van
NEVADA – According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a 79-year-old man died last week after being hit by a vehicle while standing by his damaged van on I-15.
According to a Tuesday news release, just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 4, John Fridlund was driving a Chevrolet van that became disabled and drove onto the right shoulder of southbound I-15 near mile marker 104.
The victim was standing in front of the van, which was parked on the right shoulder, when an unknown car driven by an unknown suspect approached the disabled van, according to police.
“For unknown reasons, the car failed to maintain its indicated travel lane and drove into the right side shoulder, striking Mr. Fridlund on the front right,” police said.
Following the collision, the vehicle drove away. As on Tuesday, the driver was still at large.
The man died at the spot as a result of his injuries. There were no more details revealed.
