An Officer Shot an Armed Man Outside the Sparks Police Department
NEVADA – At the Sparks Police Department on Tuesday morning, an officer shot an individual.
Before 3 a.m., a Sparks Police Department Sergeant saw a man with a gun outside their station.
The man’s gun had already been fired. After talking with the person for a few hours, police fired shots when the person ran at them and fired his gun again.
Officers tried to save the man’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Regional Officer Involved Shooting Protocol was put into place. The Reno Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office will be in charge of the investigation.
The man’s name won’t be made public until the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiners Officer tells the man’s next of kin.
