Armed Man Shot by Reno Police Early Sunday
NEVADA – After being shot by Reno police officers in downtown Reno early Sunday morning, a guy is being treated at a nearby hospital.
Just before 6 a.m. on December 4, police responded to reports of an armed man in the roadway at West 5th and North Virginia streets.
According to police, the man ignored their demands and fled on foot, leading officers on a brief chase.
Officers stated that they attempted to employ non-lethal force before shooting the individual, but were unsuccessful.
Officers shot the man in the vicinity of the Silver Legacy valet. Officers did not say what kind of weapon the man was carrying.
According to investigators, the individual was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. There were no cops injured in the shooting.
The road will be closed for several hours as crews work to clear the scene and complete their investigation.
