RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – Reno is getting into the Christmas spirit by decorating their shops. Let it Glow is an event that begins Thursday night with the annual MidTown Holiday Party & Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Let it Glow is a friendly competition between small businesses, and Northern Nevada residents may vote on their favorite throughout December. Among the categories are:
- Most Reno
- Most Griswald
- Most Creative/Themed
- Community Choice
- Most Lit District
- Best Overall
You can cast your vote by photographing your favorite light display and tagging the business or district with the hashtag #letitglowreno. The names of the finalists will be revealed on December 17. The Let It Glow Finalist Party and Winner Announcement will take place on December 29th.
The goal is to encourage people to come out, support local businesses, and participate. The event is in its first year, and Jaime Chapman of Pineapple Pedicabs came up with the idea.
“We are super excited to invite you to join us for Let It Glow, Reno,” said Chapman. “Come out and explore the new and ever changing districts of Reno. Find yourself, lose yourself, meet someone new, eat something different, shop for something unique, walk, pedal, ride, love and enjoy the glow!”
The MidTown Holiday Party & Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. near Virginia Street, in the parking lot of the Living Stones Church.
