COVID-19 Cases Are Declining Again in Clark County After a One-Week Increase – Southern Nevada Health District
NEVADA – The Southern Nevada Health District reports 19 fewer cases in Clark County after a one-week rise.
The total for the week — 826 cases — was below 1,000 for the second time in three weeks. In January, 6,110 COVID-19 omicron instances were reported in one day.
Only North Las Vegas and one Henderson monitoring site found minor increases in COVID-19 levels in sewer samples. Wastewater surveillance finds virus DNA; levels rise before illness appears in the population.
Last week, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) dashboard went down for maintenance. Today’s report compares to two weeks ago; week-to-week comparisons continue next Wednesday.
Clark County’s 14-day moving average (per 100,000) is 96, while the states is 144.
As of Monday, 87 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in Clark County and 115 statewide. The Nevada Hospital Association’s weekly report says 6-8% of daily patient interactions are for COVID-19-related symptoms. Clark County has already seen a few flu-related hospitalizations, according to NHA.
Since last week, Clark County has reported 28 fatalities, bringing the total to 8,963. Since Aug. 30-Sept. 5, 58 deaths have been reported statewide, bringing the total to 11,475.
In recent weeks, COVID-19 variations haven’t changed. The omicron (BA.5) variation continues to dominate, 89.2% of sequenced cases in Clark County.
