NEVADA – As part of the Biden administration’s Internet for All project, the Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada has received grants totaling almost $19 million to improve internet access for 11 tribes in the state.

“This is extremely significant. The council’s head of operations, Deserea Quintana, expressed her organization’s elation at receiving the award, saying, “We have been working on the grant for two years. There was essentially no way to get affordable, dependable internet service.

It is the council’s mission to safeguard the project’s long-term viability and benefits, and it is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with 28 Nevada tribe members as members.

According to Quintana, the pandemic highlighted the importance of providing reliable internet connections to remote communities. Nevada’s indigenous population has historically been cut off from lifesaving resources including public safety alerts, medical care, telecommuting options, and online education.
