FERNLEY, Nev. – A house fire in Fernley on Thursday afternoon forced six people from their home. The fire occurred on Wildrose Court off of Westerlund Lane and affected two adults and four children.
The Fernley Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire quickly. However, the home was extensively damaged, and the family was displaced.
The Red Cross of Northern Nevada responded to the scene to provide assistance to the family. Disaster Action Team members provided food, clothing, and financial assistance, as well as assuring the family had a safe place to stay after the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
