RENO, Nev. (NV, Globe) – On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Washoe County Health District will offer a free drive-through flu vaccine event beginning at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center.
You may make an appointment for the Livestock Events Center’s drive-through event here. Appointments are encouraged, however walk-ins may be accommodated on a limited basis.
“Influenza data and forecasting from public health authorities around the world are indicating that it’s possible we could experience a severe flu season this year,” said District Health Officer in Washoe County, Kevin Dick. “It’s our recommendation that everyone 6 months and older receive the flu vaccine to help decrease the chance you end up with a severe case of flu that could result in a medical visit, hospitalization or even death.”
The high-dose senior flu vaccination, according to officials, will not be provided at this event. Seniors 65 and older are at an elevated risk of flu complications and should get the high-dose vaccination from their doctor’s office or local drugstore.
There is no need for insurance.
Reno’s Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center is situated at 1350 N Wells Ave.
