NEVADA – Friday is National Caregiver’s Day. It’s dedicated to showcasing the sacrifices they make to care for our loved ones.
A caregiver is someone who looks after someone who has short or long-term limitations due to an illness, accident, or disability. They can be professional, such as a nurse or doctor, or they can be linked to the patient. Many carers are unable to take time off because of their jobs, which can take a physical or mental toll.
In fact, a recent survey indicated that caregivers have higher rates of anxiety and depression than non-caregivers. While it is not always possible, it is critical for them to take a break, even if it is only for a short period of time. Check on a caregiver who appears to be struggling and offer assistance if possible.
You can demonstrate your appreciation for them by getting them a book, gift card, candles, baked goods, or simply telling them how much you appreciate them.
