NEVADA – Numerous schools and universities in the Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas have announced delays or cancellations for Monday, February 27, due to hazardous weather conditions.
In Washoe County’s Incline Village, all schools have been closed and students will engage in distance learning.
The Lake Tahoe Unified School District has also decided to close all its schools due to heavy snow and forecasted blizzard conditions.
Lake Tahoe Community College’s campus will also be closed, and all offices and departments will remain closed for the day.
In the Douglas County School District (Lake Schools), Zephyr Cove Elementary School and George Whittell High School will remain closed on Monday due to hazardous winter conditions in the Lake Tahoe Basin. A decision on valley schools will be made on Monday morning.
Classes are canceled in Tahoe Truckee Unified School District due to the anticipation of more snowfall and hazardous driving conditions.
The Carson City School District has canceled classes due to expected high winds and pending weather-related conditions.
The Douglas County School District has also canceled classes due to severe incoming winter weather, and all schools are closed in Storey County School District due to the expected winter storm.
The University of Nevada, Reno, has suspended non-essential campus operations and classes due to severe incoming weather.
Truckee Meadows Community College has also decided to close all physical locations, including the Child Care Center, while Western Nevada College will move classes via remote for their Carson City and Douglas campus, including the Child Development Center.
